Connecting the dots
Connection requests in the Norwegian power grid are becoming increasingly complex, involving multiple grid levels, stakeholders, and regulatory requirements.
The Tilknytning teams (Tilko and TKV) are tackling these challenges head-on by developing better processes and digital tools to ensure consistency, transparency, and efficiency in how complex cases are handled and approved, across the Norway.
At the core of our work is the Tilknytningsportalen – a national platform that aims to become the most efficient and trusted tool in the power grid industry for assessing connection requests. From the initial customer inquiry to final reservation, our goal is to create a seamless, unified platform for structured information exchange across all grid levels - DSO, TSO, and other actors.
These teams are working closely with grid companies, regulators, and industry experts to define smart workflows, align interpretations, and automate where possible, without compromising on quality or control.
Together, we're laying the foundation for a more scalable and future-ready connection process in Norway’s evolving energy system.

What are we working on? ⚡️

Team Tilko
This team handles large connection requests (1 MW). From inquiry to reservation, it enables consistent information exchange across all grid levels in Norway.
The platform supports every step of the process except initial guidance and includes both a user interface and API for seamless integration with external systems. Aiming to build a better process to manage complexity at scale.

Team TKV
(Shortened from Tilknyning Volum) - this team focuses on handling high volumes of connection requests that require a distinct process.
We manage applications, grid connection, and coordination within the distribution network to ensure efficient and consistent treatment across grid partners. -
Team NRL
Grid companies are required to report large amounts of data to various recipients. Today there are almost no requirements for standardization or coordination of this data.
We offer a reporting service that integrates with the National Register for Aviation Obstacles (NRL) to make it easy for grid companies to report aviation obstacles to the Norwegian Mapping Authority (Kartverket) in a standardized, efficient way. -
Team Data
We’re building the foundation for better collaboration in the power grid sector by developing common standards for data flow and sharing across grid companies.
A key initiative is the national net model, which aims to create a unified structure for how grid data is represented and exchanged. By also developing frameworks for secure and standardized data sharing, we can ensure that sensitive information can flow safely between systems.
